If you didn't have a pokemon who couldn't check it on your team, you were butt fucked.
On smogon's usage percentage it was on more than 50% of teams.

Problem is you make it sound like it was super duper hard to check. I kind of understand why but at the same tim he's not OHNOE worthy.

Genesect does heavy damage to most of it's counters with U-Turn. Blissey/Chansey, Jellicent, Jirachi, and most other sp.d pokemon can't take a hit from Genesect weather if it's from U-Turn or any other attack it had. Besides that, Genesect also has a good amount of resistances, and paired with a rain it can take a fire attack, you know the only thing it is weak to it can take a hit from things faster than it and return it. Also BoltBeam.

It almost has to be choiced to be useful, so it was never really that big a problem for me. It's easy to predict around.

He fucking sucked. If it wasn't his lack of speed, it was his lack of hitting power. If it wasn't that, it was his lack of speed. He just wasn't really that good. Now his play level will be 0, because he'll be like Blazechicken in Ubers: Feared in the OU tier despite the ease with which it is countered/checked. Additionally, while U-Turn was really pissy, it's just not really worth it to say that he was a menace or, according to Safi, OHNOE worthy. He didn't really do damage to people, as his U-Turn does like.... 21% to Blissey WITH a Life Orb. It would be more like 15-16% to Chansey. Which is buttfucking nothing.

Such as Heatran. Hi Jump Kick! Oh, Protect. Hey look! I'm faster! Hi Jump Kick! Switch to Gyarados or something with Intimidate. Oh no, Stone Edge? I'm bulky. Bounce. GG.

I guess the problem is the part of the tier players who actually know what they're doing probably use the same counter-logic to counter your counter-logic.
Pretty much he's probably so damn hard to stop for how much effort it takes to utilize him. If you didn't have a check to stop him you'd have a bad day and would probably lose.

But that's part of the game. Constructing a solid team is the biggest part. If you can't stop something, then you have a problem.
