Nightmare Tier List Returns

A while back, we argued over the tier lists as some were not satisfied with the placements of certain pokemon. I think we could do something when we start out with say, the smogon tier lists, and can "promote" or "demote" certain pokemon at will. Someone could suggest a pokemon be changed tier, and if a certain amount of people back it up (say 2). People could also vote against the decision, which could cancel the vote against a pro-changer.

Here's an explanation with an example.



Rayquaza is currently in the uber tier. Five people are unsatisfied with this placement, and vote to bring Rayquaza into the overused tier. Three people like quaza in the Uber tier, and vote against moving the great huggable dragon. Three cancels out three of the pro-OU Rayquaza votes, meaning out green friend now has positive two votes for moving into overused. That's enough to bring him into OU for now.

Two isn't a set number for amount needed to overrule, but it's being used for now. We could also have a "test phase" period of time to see if the pokemon was truly broken before chaniging the tier officially. This doesn't just work for OU; there could be votes to bring OU's to UU and UU to NU!

Hmm..there are quite a few Pokemon I wouldn't mind being banned.

I think Politoed, Ninetales, and Thundurus T should go.

Politoed and Ninetales need to go, provided they have their insta-weather abilities. Tornadus' alternate form needs to go as well.

First off.

Politoed and Ninetales can stay.

The arguement AGAINST them is "nuuuu weather so op". In reality, it's not that hard to get around, as long as you play carefully.

Tornadus-T I do understand a bit more, but don't neccesarily agree with. While yes, it is VERY strong, it also is fast enough to be outsped by MANY sweepers after a Dragon Dance or two, and can be outsped easily through the likes of Jolteon and Choice Scarfers. With Rocks up, it can no longer stay in on Scizor, because priority wrecks it, especially when Tornadus' own life orb damage starts racking up.

In addition, weather CAN even keep Tornadus balanced, justifying no movement between any weather inducer. For instance, most Chlorophyll users in the sun outspeed him, and the residual damage and resistances to his STAB in sand make him less threatening there as well.

There's my arguement against it.

Btw, lower Garchomp to OU for tests.

Also I largely disagree with Garchomp for OU. He was banned for a good reason. Whether people used him for his hax abuse or not, he was still a HUGE threat that was very hard to stop unless you had checks specifically to use against him.

I'd just rather see how he acts now with everything in BW2 released.

Ice Shard was not released as a Move Tutor move, so I'd expect him still to be overpowered.

Btw, rayquaza was just a random pokemon picked as an example, and wasn't seriously meant to be considered as an OU pokemon. He's obviously overpowered. I just didn't want to pick a hotly debated pokemon, say Garchomp, and make it seem like I was tilting the thread one way or another.

If we are acutually serious about the tier idea, I'd like to lower garchomp to OU.

We could also unban pokemon, such as blaziken and excadrill, without their "uber" abilities.

I'll have to disagree due to boasting huge stats, a great typing, and a good movepool. It's the fastest subseeder in the game that can beat almost anything one on one with Leech Seed, Substitute, Serene Grace Air Slash, and Seed Flare. There would be no other reason to use speedy subseeders except losing a weakness to SR.

Naw but seriously, with things like Tornadus-T being introduced, I wanna see what can effectively do well in OU against Chomp, if there is anything at all.

Well Ubers basically is a tier. It is the tier for pokemon too OP for normal play. Or at least that's what it's become. =/

It really isn't resh. OU is the tier for the most used pokemon in the game that are deemed balanced OR inbalanced for UU/BL. UU applies the same logic with RU, and RU with NU.

The fact is, Ubers is a banlist, and while it can be played, it is not classified as a tier, because the basis of the metagame, OU, needed something to rule out things that dominated or centralized that meta.

We have an Overused, Underused, Rarelyused....
