Discussion~ Favorite Sprite Styles
What are your favorite kinds of sprite styles? Do you like complicated sprites, simple, old-fashioned? There are many games out there with their own style of sprites. Share your thoughts and opinions!
One of my favorite spriting styles is the style in TWEWY. In the game there are actually several contrasting styles of sprites- the noise, mugshots, and pins styles all work together to make it a unique game.
In the mug shots, there's a lot of black, especially on the outline (which is usually around 2 pixels). They also use contrasting colors to make things stand out more. The skin color is very light, almost white and in other sprites (such as Shiki's), the clothing colors are very bright. (Eheh, the site's background color kinda makes it hard to see the black, so just go to the zoomed size)

Which the mugshots use lots of black, the noise battle sprites use very minimal black to no black at all. The noise usually have a "main" body that has some black pixels for definition in some places, but the "outside" parts that show that they're noise have no outline at all, but a shadow shade to add depth.

The mugshots and noise sprites are pretty simple compared to the pins. The pins are very detailed and use a ton of anti-aliasing to make he designs smooth. Mostly the main colors in the design contrast with the background a lot.

In the game, there are several Brands of pins. Each of the brands has it's own style~ Here's some examples:
I have experimented with the mugshot style and it turned out pretty well~ ^0^ Sometime, I really want to attempt making pins =w= That'd be fun, but sooooo much work x_x

Re: Discussion~ Favorite Sprite Styles
TWEWY would have to be one of my favorite games of all time. I played it almost nonstop day and night for (ironically) 3 days (as opposed to the three weeks) until I beat that fucking thing at the end on hard mode. I LOVED that game. Tin Pin Slammer!
I thought that Minamimoto and Kariya were awesome. Sho (Minamimoto) has lots of artistic facial expressions. He also helped me through Geometry this year ("Soh Cah Toa..."). Kariya is just a pimpin' character overall. I was going to cosplay him, but I need the vest (and a long orange wig). But yeah. I hated Konishi. She was such a bitch, and her Tigress Noise form was the hardest for me to kill of ANY character in the entire game. AT ALL. Even more than Kitaniji and the Final Snake thing. But yeah. I loved the layout. It was so boss.

Re: Discussion~ Favorite Sprite Styles
(just call me "griffin")
WELLLL, different games have different sprite styles.
Pokemon has its own sprite style that has evolved over the years... to and also and
Other games have different styles, such as my example. Just going through Spriter's Resource shows you that there are a TON of styles in a ton of games.
