Future Careers Empty Future Careers

Post by Lynjabear Thu Feb 09, 2012 4:37 pm

I remember, that when I was in kindergarten, I wanted to do one of two things - move to Pennsylvania and make chocolate (inspired after a watching of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), or become a vet. Today, I'm not sure if I'd still want to be a chocolate factory, but the idea of saving lives - animal lives, is still high on my to-do list. I have always loved animals (save monkeys, but that's another story...), catching snakes and frogs in my woods to observe them and taking in the occasional bird.

In my fourth grade year, a baby Northern common sparrow came into my life. After coming back from ballet, we found the bird helpless on the front steps. We named him “Stevie” and my grandmother and I got birdseed from a nearby pet supplier to feed him. At first, he seemed to recover, but began to refuse food and died within a week. My father told me that he had died of sickness.

This experience, and a later obsession with dogs revived my earlier desire to become a vet, and it's a goal I've had in mind for the past few years.

What would you like to be when you grow up? Why? And even if you already have a job, what did you want to be when you were young?

Astronomer is what I've wanted to become for a long time. Really long time. But now Criminology and Forensics is catching my attention. So I'm not really sure anymore...

I'll see how next year goes. I'll be taking College Forensics, and if it good, it's good and I'll try my best to get into it. And by going through Criminology, maybe someone that works in the Police force.

I wish I had everything clearer.

I'm either going to be a writer, or oncologist.

Well. I would like to be possibly a programmer/networking person, or an Astronomer.

So far I like Computers and Science most. So yeah. ^^

I just sort of want to roam the world and meet people, who cares if I'm poor?

I want to travel the world in a VW camper from the 60's, and no I am not a hippie xD
If I only have one life to live I want to make the best of it and not work 8 hours a day when I could be out seeing the world.

Just a dream though

Nope. Going into programming/designing/testing solely because you like video games is a horrible decision. Turning a fun hobby into a real job sounds good on paper, but when you actually get there it's quite the opposite.

It's honestly really true. My parents always tell me if I really like games that much, I should make developing them into a career. Then I start thinking of all the numbers and coding, and I get really overwhelmed thinking how muh effort is put into video games.

Honestly, my passion is art. I'd love to be a character designer/concept artist for video games, or become a art teacher. I'd have to say though, art teacher is what I really want to do, so who knows.

Although, I can't code or program to save my life. T_T
