Why Do You Listen to the Music You Listen To?

I know that lots of people have different reasons, from Beach Boys fans reliving their old surfer days to Black Veil Brides fans resisting the temptation to self-harm and learning to accept themselves. I personally listen to music for a few reasons, being that I don't get much sleep and some hard-hitters really get me on my toes and that I get pissed off a lot and some chill-out music is much appreciated. Also, I mix and dance to hardstyle/house/electro, so there's that. What have you guys got to say?

probably unkilling a thread, but i normally listen to things like iron maiden, system of a down, Metallica, and really anything that i find interesting/fun to listen to.
the reason i listen to them is because well, unlike pop/rap it isn't all the same shitty stuff (no offense.) and in the case of system of a down, if you start listening to something like chop suey, then listen to eh, something like roulette you will normally notice a major change in the songs
i usually listen to music to make time pass, since i normally just want time to pass it's easier to listen to music and zone out then it is to do with a game.
