CLOUD NINE!

So, this ability has such potential....but it's put on such terrible pokemon. Someone needs to make a team with this ability included.

Golduck, Altaria and Lickylicky. That's what, two special attackers and a slow tank? Altaria seems the stronger offensively but has bigger weaknesses, Golduck seems like it might be more durable. Lickylicky seems like the most viable though.

Lickylicky had good enough stats and typing to be pretty durable. BUT, a LEAD cloud nine set would probably be most effective, as a lot of people with weather teams send out their weather starter first.

Just a fun little project I thought of. Anyone got a cloud nine team?

I've noticed something. Golduck might have the potential to OHKO any of the weather users aside from abomasnow, if it can outspeed it.

Something interesting is that Golduck gets Soak, which could lessen damage from moves since they won't have STAB, but since that won't work against Politoed, it's kinda dull and pretty much unsuable in an effective way. Altaria I feel should be more of a defensive Pokemon and because of that I think Natural Cure is much more effective. As for Lickilicky, Explosion should give an 1HKO to all Weather besides T-Tar and Hippowdon with a Normal Gem attatched. But that could be done with or without Cloud Nine, so I dunno if it's viable.

I have never personally used these Pokemon though, so I'd rather hear from some who has.

The objective is to eliminate the enemies weather pokemon with one of the cloud nine trio and eliminate the weather with the ability. A team built around this would also be fantastic.

All three are below average. Lickylicky is tough to run because fighting type is a thing and Explosion got nerfed, Altaria is a terrible dragon, and Golduck is.... Golduck. Making a team with one of these would most likely be detrimental and you'd probably be better off just using other Pokemon that can deal with weather while it's up, and also serve a purpose other than eliminating weather. Building a team around Cloud Nine is also unfavorable when you consider that most good weather teams can at least somewhat function while the weather isn't up, even more so against the Pokemon with access to Cloud Nine.

There are some interesting things you could try, but don't expect consistency. People have been fooling around with Cloud Nine ever since weather got huge, and unfortunately it just really doesn't work in OU. All three are pretty easily eliminated and aren't very scary offensively, outside of maybe DD Altaria, but you'd probably be dead by the time you tried to get a couple up. A banded Explosion from Lickylicky would probably also hurt even with the nerf, but then you're down a Pokemon and a Cloud Nine user.

You're right about the HP Grass. As far as Toxic, you can still manage the damage pretty well. Gastro naturally forces a lot of Pokemon out, so even if it is poisoned, it still acts as an amazing pivot.

And Resh, I'll be creative, as long as I find it viable. If weather weren't everywhere, I'd be running Audino in like every team. The things a fucking champion.

Well, I prefer Hydro Pump over Surf. It's a personal choice. It looked a little bit like this.

The optional slot is coverage. I think it gets Psychic/Psyshock. It's a personal decision.

Audino has bad stats....and why would weather stop it? It's normal type....

You haven't seen the fury that is Audino. I thought the same thing until Evan showed me how much of a monster it is. Plus 103/86/86 defensive stats is really not bad at all, especially when you consider how much support it gets.

And weather buffs are bad for you if you aren't benefiting from them but your opponent is. A Hydro Pump under rain is still going to hurt a lot more than one without, super effective or not.

I would think there are pokemon that can outclass Audino....You sure we're talking about Audino here?

It gets Regenerator, so toxic is only so effective. It also gets Wish, so it can support, as well as Encore, and Protect. It also has access to Toxic. To demonstrate it's tankyness, I had a specially defensive Audino with max HP and Sp. Def tank a +2 Life Orb Sand Force Excadrill's EQ.
