The Missing Constellation

"....What time is it? And where are we?"

I would like to look around.

"Alright. Who the hell called a hit on me, and why? Since I'm apparently going to die anyways, at least give me the comfort."

"You're awake. We're still continuing down this trail, I'm not sure how long it will be before we find another significant landmark. It is now morning. I trust you will lead another productive day today, Vahn."

The Masked Kendoist raises the shinai in the air as a bolt of lightning descends from the sky and converges onto it. The shinai begins to screech and slams into the ground, creating a ferocious squall of electricity. The wave tears through the roof of the building as it makes its way towards you. Your vision begins to fill with near blinding light and you can only hear an indistinct voice shouting "Riley, get away!" as your ears begin to ring. You close your eyes ready for your first class ticket to the pasta restaurant in the sky when nothing seems to happen for a while. You open your eyes again and stand up to see Reed had fallen down from intercepting the attack.

"No... I never meant for this to happen. This... wasn't supposed to happen..."

The Kendoist backs away slowly and raises the shinai. A flash of light glares for a split second, and the Kendoist disappears.

"What the fuck did you do man..."

"Well if we don't find anything on this path soon the day won't be very productive.... Hopefully we're headed in the right direction. You can put me down now."

I try to read some more of the book.

Vahn:

You begin to spot a structure in the distance as you continue to walk. You continue reading the book.

Your brother is still breathing, so it's a relief he is still alive. However you don't know how much longer he will be able to hold on, you need to seek medical attention as soon as possible. You aren't sure if the technology and medicine in this place is up to date to be able to take care of his injuries, but the you at least know the ones at home are. Just where could that distortion generator be?

I hurry to the structure in the distance.



Inb4 factory with Ivan and a bunch of crazy robots in it.

Look around on the rooftop for the disruptor.

Vahn:

"I do not recall who created me and why. I simply know that I exist." You stop at the outside of the structure. It is a steel building run-down on the exterior. Chills begin to run down your spine as approach the gates.

"Non è importante. Now hurry along, return to the encampment and collect your reward. I suggest you spend it wisely, for if you do not choose your equipment carefully, you may be buying your own death." You gather the tools and return to the settlement where your employer is waiting. "You're back! I knew you'd make it. You got my tools?"

You recall on what Hazel said about the disruptors being closely guarded by people of elite skill, so you assume it's nearby. After combing up the entire area you find a large device the size of an industrial air conditioner. You then hear the sound of sirens and men shouting as they enter the building from below. It's probably the fuzz. If you're gonna do something, you'd better do it quick.

I draw my Ninjato and open the gates. Let's see if it's Ivan or Solara....or uh....something else?

You enter the building and it seems to be workshop of some sort. Nobody seems to be here, and various contraptions are haphazardly scattered about. At the end of the room you see an elevator.

You empty an entire drum on the Distortion Generator and kick off the building watching it explode as it hits the pavement. You hoist Reed's arm over your shoulder and prepare to leave this place... if only you knew how to get back from here. The door to the rooftop is kicked down and armed men point their pistols at you.

"Freeze! Police!"

"This place seems funny to me.... Hey AR, let's look for things to repair you. Look for anything of significance, okay?"

I would like to look around for useful things as well, being careful.



I'm thinking Solara is at the top floor, so I wanna be ready.







One last thing, I would like to text Riley. "Hey, I know you have a gun and such so when you destroy the jamming source in your world could you come to the one I'm in? My code is 5T34MPUNK."

"If your taking anyone, take me. My brother needs medical attention. Now."

Vahn:

None of the parts of the old contraptions seem to be compatible with AR's structure. You don't even know what any of these do anyway.

You look around for more work, but the refugees have already gone back into their tents for the night except for one. You see an intimidating woman with an eyepatch smoking a cigarette standing out in the night.

Vinnie's goons interrupt from behind and begin taking out the policemen. Vinnie then appears and yells out to you. "Riley! We'll handle the flatfoots here! Type in 'Return' into your Seape bar and you should be able to get back to our world! Quick! Go! Go!"

I head up the elevator, looking out for anything that looks explosive, electric or dangerous on the way. If I see something useful like that I grab it if I can without hurting my self and I go up the elevator.

Type Return into my Seape Bar and rush to the nearest hospital.

Vahn:

If you haven't noticed, he has his hands full at the moment. Also the elevator only seems to go down, with no sign of explosives, as why would that even be in an elevator? You head down the elevator with AR and hear creaking noises and sparks as it descends towards the bottom. AR seems to be attempting idle conversation. "Vahn, I do believe social protocol dictates I make small talk while passing the time as to emulate the state of awkward tension."

You approach the woman and ask her how she's doing in a raspy, obnoxious nerd voice. "HYUK HYUK, COME HERE OFTEN?! HYUK HNGYEAHHHH." Kind of like that except nowhere near as improbable. She doesn't acknowledge you and speaks to herself with a Russian accent. "The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness. For what purpose are we still here... and for how much longer?"

A beam of light surrounds you and the world of Denpirn disappears and you're back in your room at the restaurant. You take a quick look outside the window and are in relief when you find out you are back in the old world. You call up an ambulance and they arrive to take Reed to the hospital. You wonder if anyone else has made it back yet.

Riley:

You're pretty beat up, you might need medical attention yourself. In the meantime, you decide to ring up Hazel.
"Oh, Corona. It's you again. What's up?"

"Well, you probably don't have anything to talk about since you can't remember anything, so I guess I'll start. I'm in this world because someone wants to kill me. When I talked to her, she sounded like a robot. Odd....Do you know anything about any other robots?"

I text Sheena while I'm talking to AR.. "So how's your journey through Busch Gardens going?"
