I've been testing out this Starmie and it's actually pretty good. Here's the set

    252 Hp 252 Speed 4 Sp atk
    Bold/ Timid Lefties
    Cosmic Power
    Recover
    Thunderbolt
    Icebeam

Now the way you play this set is to set up toxic spikes first. (Sp defensive Roserade pairs well with this.) Then you send in starmie and start setting up Cosmic powers. Recover is there to Recover. And bolt beam coverage.
Tell me what you think of this :B

    Few things:

    -Lacks STAB.
    -Easily Whirlwinded/Roared/Dragon Tail'd out.
-Stall in the current OU metagame is absolute suicide.

Yes it lacks stab. But giving it surf would make it walled by grass types/ Water types.
I can't deny phazers are a counter to this.
And it doesn't do too bad. Once you get up some Cosmic powers it's hard to stop.

What about this? You get a Smeargle, Spore and then set up Toxic Spikes. With lucky, you can use Ingrain and BP to Starmie. Ingrain makes it impossible to Roar you out.

I don't think you can Baton Pass with Ingrain as it's technically a switch.

You can Baton Pass Ingrain. It's on a Smogon set and i've seen someone using it on me.
You can't switch from Arena Trap, but BP is possible. Ingrain works the same way.

    Huh.
Then wouldn't roar work under the same principles? As it technically applies the same method.

this sounds interesting, but I think other pokemon might be better for the job. although starmie has neat 85/85 defenses, it has no way of boosting its offenses, meaning that this would be set-up bait for stat-boosting sweepers. It doesn't have any investment in special attack, and won't be doing much without STAB attacks. This could work, but I think that OU has too many set-up sweepers for this to work. even something such as conkeldurr would defeat this after both maximize stats.
